In this class, we will solve a weekly word problem together and student will be given a challenge problem to solve for homework. We will use strategies such as imagery, key words, and drawing to be able to choose the correct operation/s to solve the problems. I will provide students with strategies to independently solve word problems. Word problems will involve adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, fractions, decimals, time, and basic geometry. (4-6th grade) Student will have the chance to discuss with each other ideas and strategies. 

My teaching style is to get to know each learner and teach in ways that work for the individual learners. Basic elementary math knowledge is a prerequisite, but I will work step my step with struggling learners. 

Class structure is:
3-5 minute intro/ homework review
15 Minute Discuss and solve weekly problem
5 minute introduce homework problem

Topics for each week will be dictated by studnet needs, but examples include:
Week 1 (Feb 1st 2021) : Simple word problems
Week 2 : word problems with multiple steps
Week 3 : Word problems with fractions
Week 4: Word problems with decimals

Problems will continue to increase in difficulty over time.
