課堂經歷
In this 3-day camp, learners will study the history and behind-the-scene secrets of classic rides at Disney amusement parks. On the last day, learners will present their own imagineered Disney ride in the form of a written press release. The schedule is as follows: Day 1: Welcome to Disney Imagineering: Classic Rides! Learners will meet and greet each other by introducing themselves and talking about their favorite ride at a Disney them park. Learners should feel free to wear ears or other Disney gear. After introductions, it’s time to discuss the history of legendary rides and the secrets to their successes. Learners will be asked to start to think of designing their own ride and the components professional imagineers use to make it magical. Day 2: Learners will study the history and special effects techniques behind The Haunted Mansion. Learners can feel free to bring supplies on this adventure, and we will attempt to build our own haunted mansion structure out of household items, drawings, or snacking materials such as marshmallows and graham crackers. Then it’s time to row our boats as we venture onto the bayou to study the history and magic behind Pirates of the Caribbean. We will compare and contrast the three rides during a discussion of what made them such successes. We will discuss the components of a press release, as that is how news of new rides is spread. Learners will be instructed to write a press release and prepare a press packet for the launch of their own imagineered ride. Day 3: Learners will serve as presenters at a mock press conference where each learner will present their own imagineered ride for the Disney landscape. Sketches, brick builds, or other forms of design or modeling are welcomed, but not required.
