This is a one-week class that meets two times. During this week, we will work together to plan, organize, write, and edit an opinion piece. We will use songs/movement, visual anchor charts, and teacher modeling/directing to add visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities to the learning process.
2 lessons//1 Week
Week 1Lesson 1Introduction and Graphic OrganizerWe will learn the elements of an opinion piece, we will brainstorm ideas to write about and we will select one of those, we will begin our graphic organizer, and we will begin with a strong topic sentence.Lesson 2Writing Body and RevisionWe will write out our reasons and end our story with a closing sentence; we will revise and edit, focusing on capital letters, punctuation, and finger spaces; and we will practice listening and speaking skills as we share our writing with our friends.
