I have a professional teaching certificate in the field of Special Education and grades K - 12, and I have been teaching elementary school aged kids for over four years. I also homeschool my own daughter, who is middle school aged. I enjoy teaching all subjects, and I love to get kids thinking critically.
The newest copy of the weekly news publication for junior readers. You can search online for "weekly paper news for kids" and use the second option in the search results. The name of the publication is copyrighted and cannot be listed. I use the U.S. version of the publication. The U.K. version may have different articles.

This class is intended for current subscribers to a weekly paper news publication, so each student should have their own copy. I use a weekly news publication for junior readers. I will refer to articles within the magazine as part of the discussion, but we will not be reading the articles during class or looking at the magazine in class. I advise parents to read the magazine with their learner. This will ensure that parents find the material suitable for their learner. The publication is aimed at ages 8 - 14. Students can still participate without the magazine, but they will enjoy class more if they have read it before class.

I will use Nearpod to facilitate engagement during class. Students may join Nearpod with the link I provide in the chatbox in class, or they may go to join.nearpod.com and use the code I give them. Students are not required to join the Nearpod, but they may enjoy the class more if they do!
