I am a trained political scientist, with extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research. I also have worked in government and politics in many ways: on Capital Hill, running campaigns, and more. The purpose of this class is not to sway students’ opinions, but to teach them to be open to discussing any topic in a thoughtful and respectful manner. I have a degree in political science and have spent over 15 years working in all aspects of politics including, but not limited to: campaigns, policy, research, and instruction. I have also taught a similar course to this, in person, for over five years. I have taught current events classes in person at homeschool co-ops in the Washington D.C. area, as well as online for remote homeschool co-ops around the world.
