This class will help your artist gain an understanding in the basics of crochet. We will learn how to hold our yarn, start a project with a "magic circle", read a pattern and finish a project. I will present in two ways to best demonstrate to learners how to crochet. I will have a slide presentation with project photos to clearly show each step (right handed), and I will also be demonstrating in real time (left handed). I do recommend that your learner have some background knowledge of how to use yarn and crochet hooks. I have two intro to crochet courses if you have a beginning learner!

Class  will start with a brief introduction of myself and each learner. I will go over my class rules with a slide presentation before we start to crochet. Lets begin! We will learn how to hold string for the correct tension, starting a project with a magic circle, how to read a pattern and then we will socialize as we finish our projects together. 
Issues and problems will arise as we work through our projects, and that is ok! I will work through them with you. 

Each week we will work to a certain point in the pattern. Anyone not at the stopping point can finish their work between classes. Students will always have the option to rewatch the lesson between class to complete that weeks work. 
Weekly Breakdown:
Week One: Learn how to hold your crochet hook, hold your yarn and start a magic circle! We will work through the start to row 9.
Week Two: Continue on creating our penguin body. Rows 10-18. Start Belly.
Week Three:  Continue Belly and start Wings. 
Week Four: Finish Wings and Beak. Sew all parts together and share our creations! 

*There is no guarantee your learner will finish their project in this class. Each learner works at a different pace. They will leave with the pattern, videos, knowledge and class recording to finish their project on their own time if not in class. 

My teaching style is all about fun! This will be a calm, relaxing and safe environment where students have the freedom to create and talk with other artists. I will encourage students to use their imagination and creativity to create their work. All artists will be encouraged to share their projects at the end of class. 
My classroom is an all inclusive space. I welcome all races, family structures, religions, sexual orientations, genders and disabilities. There is a zero tolerance policy on bullying. All artists will be respectful, encouraging and constructive or they will be removed from class.
