In each week's class, students will learn a writing lesson, be shown a surprise picture to use as inspiration, and will be given 10-20 minutes to write a creative short story which they can share with the group at the end of class. This class will meet on an ongoing basis, each class with the same structure, but a new picture prompt each week. Students will improve their creative writing skills, oral reading and speaking, and expand their imaginations as they create their very own short stories.
I have been teaching this class on Outschool to multiple sections of students every week since July 2020.
Students should have a basic understanding of writing sentences and a short story (five or more sentences).
Students should come to class with: - Something to write on (notebook, paper, Word or Google Docs document) - Something to write with (if writing on physical paper) - A creative mind
