Stop in and write with us!

This weekly meeting will start with a writing prompt designed to get imaginations rolling. Students will write from a new prompt each week, allowing ideas to unfold right from the pen without thinking or planning too much beforehand. We will follow the "Wild Mind" writing approach introduced by Natalie Goldberg. Writing will be timed at 20 minutes. When we are finished, students will be invited to share their work aloud or paste their piece in the chat and have me read it aloud. (Sharing is encouraged but not required.) 

Sample prompts:

--Choose one of the following sentences for the opening of your piece:

"Only the lake knew my secret"
"We were just playing; we didn't mean for it to happen"

--Choose one of the following situations for a story:

Your character wakes up in a place where they did not fall asleep. 
Your character looks in the mirror and does not see what they expect.

We build tight-knit, supportive writing communities in these groups as we chat, share and reflect on one another's work together.
