In this course, students will learn the basics of creative writing. We will cover the following topics: Review of the Stages of Writing Using Descriptive Words Show, Not Tell Developing a Character Developing a Setting Developing a Plot Final Story First Draft Final Story Final Draft We will also be including Writing workshops where students can get help and assistance from the instructor if they would like some guidance or feedback on what they choose to write about. The class will be in a weekly format. Each week, we will review one of the topics listed above. The first day, we will do a lesson on that topic, with teacher examples. Then, the students will have different prompts throughout the week to work on to get their creative juices flowing. Once per week, a Writing Workshop will be available to any students who want to take advantage. Students will get to interact with one another and the instructor using discussions. Students will review each other's work and give constructive feedback to help one another grow.
