課堂經歷
Writing a good story often requires creativity and natural-born talent. Writing an excellent story requires an understanding of key elements of the craft. This camp dives deeper into the concepts studied in my class, "Creative Writing Camp," but that camp is NOT a prerequisite. Students can work on creating a new story as homework throughout this camp, or they can work on revising previous stories. Students will also receive feedback on stories they choose to submit. Day 1: Writing warm-up How to add depth to characters (qualities, speech, action, quirks...) Naming characters HOMEWORK: Work on creating new characters or revising old characters Day 2: Writing warm-up The importance of adding themes Discuss themes and how to show them Review literary devices and how to add them HOMEWORK: Work on developing themes and adding literary devices to one of your stories. Day 3: Writing warm-up Types of scenes in a story Importance of the first sentence, scene, and chapter Writing the end of the story HOMEWORK: Work on revising scenes in one of your stories Day 4: Writing warm-up Importance of cover design How to design a cover Brainstorm ideas for designing your cover
