There are many ways for students to learn and understand the writing process. I believe in doing, not just speaking. As students begin to write, and express themselves, they will discover methods that work best for them. During class, students will use a computer, pencil/pen and paper. General Class plan: 1. Class will begin with a 5 minute uninterrupted writing session where each student will spend time jotting down words and ideas. They won't need to focus on spelling or grammar...
TLW (The Learner Will): TLW-Learn to free write. TLW-Turn in homework assignments on time using outschool platform. TLW-Learn to proofread and edit their work. TLW-create and understand how to use outlines, word and sentence maps etc TLW-Learn and understand the meaning of paragraphs and how they are structured. TLW-Write 3 3-5 paragraph essays and share it with the classes if they choose to.
I am offering this class because I love writing and found my passion for writing at a very early age. I am a successful children's author and freelance writer. I have published several informational pieces and nonfiction, and realistic fiction books. My personal experience makes this a unique offering because I have been writing for years and would like to share with students why writing is important and how it can be fun and helpful.
I will provide powerpoints, worksheets etc. Students will need notebooks, computer/ipad with a keyboard. Students can submit assignments on this platform.
