Does your child like comic books or graphic novels? Have they shown an interest in drawing? Maybe they enjoy telling stories, but don’t care much for writing. This class can help embrace those interests while showing them how to tell a story using pictures and dialogue. Using easy to follow step-by-step instructions (With visuals), students will combine basic story elements (e.g. setting, plot), character development, point of view (using pronouns), simple graphics, sequencing and...
I have experience with appropriate reading materials for these age groups from being a reading intervention teacher. I am also skilled at managing these conversations if students struggle with respecting these limits.
Learners will be provided with comic templates to choose from and may print or recreate them on plain white paper. They will also want a ruler, a regular pencil with a good eraser, and a set of colored pencils. Extra paper for mistakes would be helpful.

Students may choose to include fighting scenes in their comics when we discuss the use of onomatopoeia’s like POW, or BAM. However students will be discouraged to use weapons in their stories (if it comes up).
