課堂經歷
Young artists need to try a wide variety of materials to find their favorites. This one time class, introduces students to polymer clay as they get to work with an easy to use, home-friendly clay. This class will start with students who have little to no clay experience, teach them introductory techniques and leave them with a project they are proud of producing. Creating an avatar will be inspired by the student's own unique vision of themselves. We will reference Takashi Murakami's avatar...
Students will learn the following skills: 1. Softening polymer clay 2. Mixing colors 3. Rolling polymer clay 4. Covering an armature with clay 5. Creating details with clay using simple things: pencils, scissors, toothpicks, etc
Yes, I've taught art for 25 years to kiddos ages 2-18 and I still love it! Seeing kids eyes light up as they share their new creation absolutely makes my day. While, I have an art education degree - I have found my experience in the classroom to be far more valuable. My favorite part of teaching virtually is the front row seat each student has to the demonstrations. The virtual classroom also has fewer behavior problems and practically zero bullying. Yes, I've been teaching exclusively virtually for the past two years and my students' parents tell me their kids love my classes.

Adult Supervision required for operating the oven after class is over. Finished sculptures will need to be baked for 15 minutes at 275 degrees.
We will view Takashi Murakami's avatar, Mr. DOB, as inspiration for our own avatar.
Why yes, I do wear pencils in my hair and sometimes I forget they are there. When I'm planning classes and activities, I often remember what I needed as a creative kid. I craved exploring all the different art supplies with a balance between...
