In this class, students will be guided through setting up an account in order to use the Arduino Cloud to create WIFI projects for their UNO R4 microcontroller.

Using the Zoom platform, I will show students how to access the website,  how to set up variables and "things," how to link their Uno R4 to the project, how to set up dashboards on their cell phone or tablet, and how to download the IOT Remote App.

I will demonstrate how to create a simple project that allows them to view the value of a potentiometer on their phone or table, and change the color of an RGB LED from the dashboard on their remote device.

This class will teach them the basics of how to use the Arduino Cloud platform to create WIFI projects on their own if they so desire.

Students will learn to modify the sketches created to control an LED, a servo, and a buzzer on an UNO R4 WIFI device remotely through WIFI using the dashboards they create.

Setting up the Arduino IOT Cloud
 In this lesson, students will create an Arduino account and learn how to connect their Arduino Uno R4 Wifi to a project.   They will learn how to create variables, dashboards, "things," and sketches on the Arduino Cloud platform. They will link their project to their WIFI and their Uno R4 device.  After downloading the IOT Remote app to their devices, they will be able to see the dashboard they created.

Creating Your First Wifi Project
 Students will build an Arduino circuit using an RGB LED,  servo, potentiometer, and piezo buzzer.  They will create a dashboard using  widgets in the Arduino Cloud platform, such as sliders, buttons and value boxes.  They will learn to modify the automatically-prepared sketch and to "push" and "pull" the sketch to and from the Arduino Cloud and the Arduino  IDE.  Using the IOT Remote app, they test their project.

Students will use the Arduino Cloud to build dashboards and write Arduino sketches using C++ to control their projects. They will use the Arduino IDE to upload their code to their Uno R4, and they will use the IOT Remote App on their cell phones or tablets to control their Arduino project remotely through WIFI. An account is required for using the Arduino Cloud and they can use the free version to create up to two dashboards with the free account.

Students must have Arduino coding experience and know how to wire a breadboard to make circuits using an RGB LED, potentiometer, pushbutton, servo, and buzzer.

I have been a private school middle and high school science teacher for over 30 years. and on Outschool for 4 years.   During that time, I taught classes in chemistry, engineering, earth science, life science, chemistry, forensic science, biology, and health.  I enjoy teaching through hands-on experimentation and I believe that students learn best when they are activity engaged in the learning process on projects that they have chosen to learn.

I am an amateur photographer and love to photograph my grandchildren, my dog, and wildlife. I enjoy creating scrapbooks from my photos. I also enjoy tinkering with my Arduino and 3D printer to create inventions of my own.
