In this class learners will learn about the six common metric prefixes and the values they have. We will review each prefix and converting units from standard units (meter, gram, liter) to those we study (kilo. hectao. deka, deci, centi, milli). They will play a board style game making those conversions. Finally they will solve some word problems using those skills. Students should have some experience with decimal points. There will not be homework. Learner progress is assessed...
I believe learning happens on a deeper level and facts are more memorable when learners play a game. I also break the word problems down to give learners strategies for solving all word problems.
Students should have a die for turn taking during the game. Students should have paper and pencil available.
