This lab aims to build various atoms using M&M’s or similar candies along with a model template of the atom. It allows students to practice locating and identifying subatomic particles and can serve as an introductory activity for teaching the periodic table, atomic number, and mass number. We'll start the class by comparing and contrasting subatomic particles, understanding their placements within an atom. After students grasp this concept, we'll move on to exploring the periodic table, applying the same principles we learned earlier to model various elements.

Students should have a solid understanding of addition and subtraction prior to enrolling in this class.
供應清單
For this lab you will need: • A copy of the atom template and guided lab sheet (this will be provided before class begins and it is VERY important that it's printed before class). • A periodic table (will be provided and should be printed before class) • Plate or bowl for candy. • M&M’s or similar candy (anything about the same shape and size of an M&M- chocolate chips, skittles, marshmallows) 

for the molecules: 
marshmallows and toothpicks (or something easily pierced by the toothpick)
