In this private 1:1 session, we will focus on reading skills to build your student’s comprehension. The class will be tailored for your individual student’s needs. Class time, length, and frequency can be based on your individual circumstances. One good option for students really struggling with comprehension would be to focus on one skill per session. These skills could include main idea and detail, text structure, figurative language, and context clues. Once students have had mini lessons and mastered those individual skills to build their foundation, we would then move to longer, more complex text. Another option would be to use a chapter book/novel with the student, focusing on various skills as we move through chapters. I will use a combination of teacher-led presentations, games, videos, and text practice with students to keep them engaged and excited.
