In this class, students will learn to write a comparative essay. This three to seven-page essay will compare and contrast the character traits, actions, and ultimate conclusion of the Grinch from Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Students will learn how to take notes, outline, write a rough draft, and finally, complete a three to seven-page comparative essay.

Prior to week one, students will need to have read Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stone Christmas. Prior to week two, learners will need to have read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. After week three's class time, students will be required, as homework, to finish their outline and rough draft of their comparative essay. Students will need to submit their rough draft for teacher feedback via the Outschool portal two days before the beginning of week four's class. At the end of week four's class time, students will be required, as homework, to edit and finish their comparative essay to share and discuss in week five.2 - 4 每週課外時間

I will provide a letter grade to students and parents. This grade will be privately messaged, via the Outschool portal, to both. The grade will be based on student participation and essay writing.提供的成績
Students will need to bring paper and a pen or pencil to class for taking notes. It is best that they also bring their copies of the books utilized in this course. They will also need access either to a computer with word processing software or writing materials for handwriting their essays.
