Code products are self-evaluative. Effective code is functional. I will use informal “assessment for learning” where we will discuss and troubleshoot code that isn’t working as it arises.

課堂經歷

This is a great chance to get coding to create a Splatoon style game in Scratch! Our first class will be an opportunity to join and experience a multiplayer game in scratch. We will all be able to share one game space as we race to paint the surface of a Scratch board. This class is based on the idea of “reverse engineering”. We look at a finished product and then we explore the methods used to build the product. After trying a session, we will begin to break down what code goes into such a game. We can discuss how the experience compares to Splatoon and we can discuss next steps to improve the game. Another session of the game will occur at the end of the first class.
In our second class, we will build an online multiplayer. This class is directed to intermediate and advanced graphic (Scratch) coders. It is not an introductory code course. This class uses “cloud variables” it should be noted that learners new to scratch will not be able to use these variables because ***coders need to have gone beyond “new scratcher” status, which takes 2 weeks of engagement on Scratch***. Coding will be followed by testing our projects, and (time permitting) another session on the multiplayer game.
This class has no formal connection with the Nintendo product called “Splatoon”.
學習目標
Students will use reverse engineering to build a multiplayer game inspired by Splatoon.
Students will learn concepts to transition these skills to build a variety of games in Scratch.
Students will improve their graphic code skills at the intermediate/advanced level.

其他詳情

父母的引導和規範
Scratch is being used in this class and the multiplayer element has a social aspect. Sharing of Scratch gamer handles is discouraged but learners will need a scratch account that is above “new scratcher” level to engage in the code session. Scratch use requires parental approval.
