課堂經歷

I love teaching reading comprehension skills and in this private two-part class, I will work with you on the skills and strategies that you need to be a successful student. For my younger students we can work on Beginner and Intermediate reading skills, some of which are predicting, retelling, summarizing, making connections, main idea and details, literary elements and many more necessary skills. For my older students we can work on the more Advanced skills of inference, the four text connections, close reading strategies (skimming  and scanning) and how to apply them effectively. We'll also cover Literary Elements and figurative language. Each student will have a customized class made specifically to their needs. 

I will supply the reading materials and organizers for my students, and my students will tell me what they need to work on. If you aren't sure what you should work on but you're ready for private tutoring, message me with your reading level and I will do a customized plan for you.

I am a graduate of Kean University of New Jersey and have a B.A. in Teacher of the Handicapped (Special Education). I have a current certification in New Jersey as a Special Education teacher with 15 years of classroom experience in teaching reading and writing skills to students in elementary and middle school.  

I hold a  current certification in Elementary Education and I have a certification in the Wilson Reading Program, Level 1, Steps 1-6.  I have taught reading and writing comprehension to students with learning disabilities as well as students in the General Education classroom. I also have a TESOL/TEFL certification and I have taught ESL online for two years. 

As a Special Education teacher, I have taught many students reading skills and techniques for successful comprehension.  I have found that teaching basic reading skills and strategies has helped my students retain what they read. I've had great success teaching my reluctant readers with my own style of instruction! 
. 
My students' well being and love of learning has always been a priority for me. I am invested in providing a fun, high quality lesson because I love seeing their eyes light up with an "A-ha!" moment of understanding!
