In this Christmas winter holiday-themed class, we will write Star Super Sentences about reindeer, elves, Santa and Christmas trees! To do this, we will start with a basic sentence, and then add and change words to make the sentence more exciting! I will teach the following parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, & prepositional phrases, and we will brainstorm synonyms to replace the listed words, and create word lists. For example: "The horse runs" could become "The striped mare gallops gracefully in the corral." Then the students will have a chance to create and share their Winter Holiday Star Sentence with the class! This class is to help young elementary students improve their writing! It can also be a great class for an ESL student or anyone who wants to add more words to their vocabulary. If students struggle with writing, they are welcome to attend the class and come up with their ideas and share them through speaking only. It can be a goal for them to write the sentence they create!
