課堂經歷
Welcome! This class is for students in grades 1-5 who know how to play chess, understand the rules of chess, and can create a basic chess plan. Chess will enhance reading and math skills as well as improve critical thinking abilities. Chess provides long-term skills for children to think and plan strategically. I will introduce and review intermediate chess skills, tactic structure, opening moves, and function of the pieces by way of live chess instruction, chat and group play. Lessons will include: 1. Critical Thinking Skills 2. Beginning, Middle and End Game Structure 3. Piece Development 4. Chess Rules and Procedures 5. Basic Chess Openings 6. Chess Tactics (Forks and Pins) Structure of the course: *Each week starts with a basic review and end with a ten minute group chess game. Week One: Review of Chess basics, board set up, piece development and pawn game Week Two: Learn beginning, middle and end game structure. Week Three: Strategies in play for kids such as: tactics, forks, sacrifices plus an additional group game

This is my 23rd year as an elementary teacher and course instructor. In addition, I teach various elective and chess courses for children at a local university. Over the years, I presented at several international conferences and local seminars. I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master's of Library Science degree. In 2011, I obtained my principal certification.
