This 10 week biweekly character education class provides instruction in 20 life principles taken from my guidebook "Best Little Teen Guide Ever!" All 40 life principles in the book align with all 5 core competencies of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), currently taught in both private/public education. Each class will begin with a short introduction to the topic using various tools (video's, charts, diagrams, etc.) After the topic is explained, the students will be given a verbal/written prompt to write a 5 minute reflection. There will be questions asked and opportunities for the students to share their responses through the chat and/or verbal (as time permits). All participation is completely optional, although encouraged. The last section of the class will be to illustrate through goal setting or diagrams/pictures anything that illustrates what we have discussed and they have learned about the topic. The goal is to create a journal with 20 life principles that will benefit the student for a lifetime.

Students will need a basic spiral notebook OR a composition notebook and a pen/pencil, Colored pencils are optional as students will be drawing/illustrating topics of discussion. The 20 principles in the class are taken directly from the first half of my published guidebook, "Best Little Teen Guide Ever!" currently sold on Amazon and other online bookstores. If the student chooses to purchase the guidebook, no other notebook will be needed as they will write/draw in the interactive guidebook.The purchase of the book is suggested but completely optional and is not required for this course.

I am currently a certified public school instructor in a K-8 Florida public school. Additionally, I have a masters degree in psychology and an Ed.S degree in educational leadership. This marks my 21st year as an educator. I taught high school for 15 years, 4 years as a middle school intervention specialist and currently an ESE Resource teacher in elementary/middle school. I have taught psychology (AP/dual enrollment), sociology, algebra and geometry.
