In this special 8 week semester art class students will learn how to draw key characters from popular video/computer games such as Zelda, Super Mario, Kirby, Minecraft, Roblox, Animal Crossing and more. Before learning how to draw we will discuss and ask questions such as: 'What makes this character design so unique?' And 'How can I create my own character using this style?' Through studying existing genres and character design your learner will have a great jumping off point to realising their own video game ideas, character design and drawing styles. All visual video game creation starts with fundamental drawing of the games characters. This is also a great way to introduce the character and get everyone excited about recreating them at home. We will then move onto learning how to draw that weeks character. I will go through the class with easy step by step instructions so we can really practice the new skill we are learning. We will then ink and colour in our artworks. This course is perfect for complete beginners or intermediates wanting to improve and practice their drawing. Each week their will be an optional homework challenge for learners to create their own character for that weeks game that would fit into the style we have learnt! My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well. I will also sensitively point out where there is room for improvement. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. I will use slides and live drawing to demonstrate and teach. The students will need some plain paper, an eraser, sharpener and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, video games and how to draw! This semester course will give your child the tools and skills they need when creating their own video game ideas in the future! So join us as we dive into the world of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Roblox, Super Mario, Among Us, Pokemon Sun and Moon, Minecraft and Kirby - and become a computer game drawing master! Week starting 18/12/2023 Animal Crossing Week starting 25/12/2023 Roblox Week starting 01/01/2024 Super Mario Week starting 08/01/2024 Zelda Week starting 15/01/2024 Among Us Week starting 22/01/2024 Pokemon Sun and Moon Week starting 29/01/2024 Kirby Week starting 05/02/2024 Minecraft Once we get to the last character the class will loop back round to Animal Crossing again and start from there so each student gets a chance to draw them all no mater where you start!

The students will need a pencil, eraser, some plain paper and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. They are also welcome to use paints also if they would like to colour in with those.

Hello! My name is Harriet Horner and I am from London in the UK. I teach creative classes, including interesting and dynamic art classes, along with art history classes. They including a lot of making and creating from the students side and most importantly they are very fun!
I have a bachelors degree in Fine Art from University of the Arts London and have worked with the acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor for over 3 years. I also have my own art studio and have exhibited my art work around London and in the Venice Biennale! As well as my colourful art background I have also obtained a TEFL and have been teaching English online to foreign students from the ages of 5 - 12. I love it! But I cant wait to combine my love of art with my love of teaching and believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject will bring a great learning experience to my students.
I believe the best way to learn is through doing so I always encourage my students to get involved, get stuck in and trust in the process! I love to interact with my students and get to know them in the lessons. I am an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient teacher who will give my students the tools they need to let their creativity flow and positive reinforcement to help boost their confidence in their own creative skillset.評論
