As a technology professional and educator, I have been in the position of hiring numerous individuals for many positions. I have also worked with hiring managers and career counselors to help create career fairs and hiring events. Throughout my 25 year career I have gained a unique perspective on what it takes to "get the job" and what it takes to build a lasting professional career. I will inject my knowledge and awareness of different technologies that can both help and hinder your success in the job market, and even help you stand out.
Students will need access to a word processor (preferably Microsoft Word) and have a basic knowledge of how to navigate the internet. Students will need to do a certain amount of research on the job market (Monster, Indeed, Glassdoor etc) and may need parental assistance with this. Students will be provided with templates for a cover letter and resume in RTF format. This format is able to be opened in all modern word processors (Microsoft Word, Google Docs etc).
