💻 Please send me a schedule request if you don't see a time that will work for your learner OR check out my "course"/multi-day/camp version of this class that will be offererd periodically. Please check the bottom of this class description for a link and my personal refund policy for initial enrollments. ⭐️ Class size is kept very small to allow for more individualized attention.* ⭐️⭐️ Class minimum is 2. HOWEVER, if only 1 learner is enrolled, I will have class with the 1 learner for a minimum of 2-3 weeks to see if other learners will join last minute. I enjoy teaching to one learner. However, for this class if no other learners enroll during that time, I will offer other options or will offer them prior if parent/guardian requests. 📖 The reading passages in this class are on 6th and 7th grade levels. NO materials are needed prior to class. The reading passage and other information will be screen shared. Asap after each lesson, downloads of that week's reading passage, strategies and optional practice questions will be posted in the classroom. ⭐️⭐️ In class each week, learners will: 🔹️ read aloud or follow along as I or other students read the text that I will screen share. The follow along is geared more for students who have reading difficulties. Those who are fluent or semi-fluent readers are encouraged to participate in taking turns reading the text aloud. To get the most benefit from this class, all learners will be expected to read aloud unless I receive a message from learner's adult prior to class that their learner will not read aloud. I do my best to make my classroom a safe place for even struggling readers to feel comfortable. (As a side note...I have received notes in past classes about learners not participating in the read aloud. However, once they get to know me and how the class works, they want to participate. I always love that! 😊) 🔹️Next, learners will learn comprehension strategies, then together we will practice as we apply the strategies with the given text to answer questions. 🔹️Finally, learners will continue to practice the strategies learned by completing optional questions posted as an attachment in the classroom after class if they were not completed during class. The learner will have the option of uploading their answers to send to me privately to be checked for accuracy and receive feedback. ⭐️ Remember Ongoing/Enrichment classes are like a weekly subscription. You can join at anytime and cancel the subscription at any point if you don't wish for your learner to continue this live group class. Also, you can pause your subscription if your learner won't attend class but plans to return. (❗️)However, remember that pausing does Not reserve your learner's spot. (See the bottom of this description for information on this class topic also taught as camp classes and options for other ages). 🗓 SCHEDULE for 2024-2025 school year. Please check my availability or contact me for more information.* ⭐️IMPORTANT regarding 'MY' REFUND POLICY: My policy is different/more flexible than the standard recently changed Outschool refund policy regarding initial enrollments. I want to help families with their planning, and honestly this will help me with my planning as well. I understand that a lot of families prefer to book far enough in advance to guarantee a spot in a class as they plan ahead. I also realize that unexpected/unplanned events can change well intentioned plans. So, in order to help families who like to plan ahead, but also allow me the time to fill a space left empty after an unenrollment, I am willing to issue a full refund IF you need to withdraw your learner for any reason up to TWO WEEKS BEFORE the START DATE of this class. When you withdraw, even if you receive an automated message from Outschool that you are not eligible for an automatic refund, please contact me directly immediately so I can submit the refund for you with Outschool. REMEMBER, I must be notified by the person who enrolled the learner NO less than TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the class start date so I have time to try to fill that space left empty with another learner. After that point, the standard Outschool refund policy will apply. Also please check out my profile page for additional infomation regarding absences and recordings. Contact me with questions. Thank you.

Over the years I have loved helping children and teens from 2 years old to 19 improve their speech, language, auditory, phonics, reading and brain fitness skills and much more. I meet my students where they are at their level. As I teach, I adjust to help reluctant learners as well as learners who may need or want more challenge. I have decades of experience teaching each of these types of learners within the same class. I try to make my classes engaging and fun. I have a wide range of experience that includes teaching those on the autism spectrum, learning disabled students, add/adhd and many more areas of concern, as well as, experience teaching regular and gifted learners. I have found that patient encouragement in a structured and energetic yet relaxed classroom environment helps learners brains focus to receive information better and helps them become detail oriented.
