讀書俱樂部：JD 塞林格的《麥田裡的守望者》

Our book club will last for 4 weeks. Each week, we will focus on certain chapters of the classic novel The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Learners will be encouraged to think critically during each session and reach beyond the novel’s written words. I will guide the students through an interactive discussion while we analyze the novel’s literary components.

Our time together will begin with a brief welcome and introductions.

Next, we will dive into the novel’s assigned chapters for that week and discuss the plot, geographical and historical setting, themes, imagery, symbolism, irony, allusion, foreshadowing, metaphors, and similes. At the conclusion of this discussion, the students should thoroughly understand the story described in the covered chapters.

During the first session, we will briefly talk about why the book’s place in the classroom has been repeatedly challenged since 1960.

Finally, I will remind the class which chapters they must read prior to the next session.

Our sessions always end with gratitude and positivity.

Session 1: Chapters 1-7 (65 pages)
Session 2: Chapters 8-14 (67 pages)
Session 3: Chapters 15-20 (66 pages)
Session 4: Chapters 21-26 (73 pages)
