"Beverly, Right Here" continues the captivating story of characters from "Raymie Nightingale." The setting is in the South during 1979, and the book follows the journey of 14-year-old Beverly Tapinski, who experiences deep sadness and loneliness after the loss of her beloved dog, Buddy. Her mother's preoccupations leave Beverly feeling alone, pushing her to hitch a ride with her cousin to a small seaside town.
This book explores sensitive themes, including abandonment, bullying, grief, and sadness. Smoking and drinking are also mentioned. However, it also highlights impactful acts of kindness, the process of learning to trust, and the significance of unexpected connections that lead to the formation of an unusual yet supportive little family.
Despite the challenges the character faces, the story ultimately emphasizes the importance of friendship, kindness, belonging, and trust. It showcases the resilience to prevail against the bullies of the world. Parental guidance is recommended to help ensure that the book's content is suitable for your child.

Kate DiCamillo is one of my favorite authors. When I taught in the classroom, I always used Kate DiCamillo’s books to read aloud to my students because she does a great job of helping readers to learn important life lessons and think deeply. I also have a Master's in Reading, and it is my goal to help your child think deeper about the texts that they read. It would be my pleasure to share this amazing reading adventure with your child.
