Introductory Class The Introductory Class will cover Tulsa's Black Wall Street and the Black Dollar Movements. All participants in the class will receive a $30 credit toward the 4-week course. Full Course Description In this course, the students will learn about Black History Figures who were instrumental in shaping American History. We will use autobiographies, biographies, text books, videos, movies, and current news items to help shape the discussion. During the class, the children...
The goal in this class is for students to learn new (or more in-depth) information about Black History events and figures who are not covered in standard text books. A large portion of the learning will include learning about Black History outside of Africa and the Americas.
I am an 19-year practicing attorney with a minor in history and seven years of teaching experience. For the past six years, history has been one of our homeschool's focal points. Hands-on history is my passion.
Parents may purchase the following books for their home libraries, "100 African-Americans Who Shaped American History (Chrisanne Beckner)," "What Color Is My World, (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)" "Black History (Great Kings and Queens of Africa): Kids Edition (Stephen Jones, Sr.)," "Black Pioneers of Science and Invention (Louis Haber)," and "1001 Things Everyone Should Know About African American History (Jeffrey C. Stewart)." These books are optional and may be purchased on Amazon.
