Students will learn about some of the things that veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants do to help keep animals happy and healthy. This self-paced class has NO LIVE MEETINGS. Each lesson has a video and a few pages in the "workbook" that relate to the topic to keep learners engaged while watching the videos. Additional carefully selected YouTube video links may also be safely embedded into the classroom for further learning. Learners can answer the questions asked by the teacher in the online classroom if they want to share! This course does not teach students to diagnose their own pet’s diseases or medical conditions. The teacher will also not be able to diagnose or give medical recommendations. If you have questions about your pets, please contact your local veterinarian.

We will focus on feline and canine body language and communication, and why it is important to understand what your pets are trying to tell you. What does a cat's tail wagging mean? What if a dog yawns...is she tired? Having a good relationship with your pets and your future patients helps us take good care of them. Photos will be used to show body language.

Veterinary science can be gross :-) This class does not have any photos that are bloody or show any bad injuries. There will be X-rays of pets what ate things they shouldn't have, or have a broken bone. The teacher will also discuss lab tests that include the topics of urine and feces.... yup I will talk about pee and poop here and there in this class. It is part of the job :-)
Age appropriate YouTube videos may be provided for viewing after the recorded lesson. They are carefully chosen and safely embedded in the online classroom. They are option.
