Write a short summary/story about Johnny Appleseed and draw a picture to go with it. 2. Make a paper hat shaped like a pot and pretend they are Johnny Appleseed. 3. Plant apple seeds and watch them grow :).評估

Who was Johnny Appleseed? Was he a real person? What did he do? Did he love nature? I will answer these questions, and many more! 5 minutes- This will be spent building background knowledge and discussing what learners may already know about Johnny Appleseed. 15-20 minutes- I will read the story "Johnny Appleseed". I will stop frequently to discuss what we've read, point out details from pictures, touch on western expansion, explain why things may have happened the way they did, discuss key vocabulary and allow time for learners to share their own thoughts about what we've read. I will also interject my own knowledge about Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman) and share a few other pictures of significance to the life of Johnny Appleseed. 5-10 minutes- I will wrap up the lesson by asking and answering questions about what was learned about Johnny Appleseed. I will also have learners share what they learned/liked about the lesson. If time permits, we will draw a picture of Johnny Appleseed and label it. * Follow up activities will be shared with all learners at the end of the class to help enhance their learning and understanding of Johnny Appleseed. *Time may be adjusted for classes with a smaller number of students. *Sibling discount available upon request *

I will be reading the book "Johnny Appleseed" Level 1 by Patricia Demuth. It is not necessary for you to purchase this book for this lesson. This book is not currently available for purchase but if you would like to purchase a slightly higher leveled book (by the same author) it is available on Amazon for $3.99. Paper, pencil, crayon/markers (in case we have time to draw a picture at the end of the lesson :)).
