Welcome to Beginning Phonics! This class has been designed to help learners practice identifying letters and letter sounds in a friendly, welcoming, and interactive online classroom. It is designed for learners who are just beginning to learn to identify letters and their sounds as well as learners who need extra practice with these skills. Students will be able to identify letters (uppercase and lowercase) and their sounds.
I have an Associates of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. I am certified to teach Social Studies in grades 6-12. Additionally, I have my TESOL certification. I have been a 12th grade teacher, a 10th grade teacher, and most recently a Lead Teacher in a pre-school where I exclusively worked with 3, 4, and 5 year olds. I taught at the pre-school for three years with a focus on fostering the development of early literacy and math skills. I've been a teacher on Outschool since the Summer of 2020. During that time I've continuously taught my Sight Word Swing Level 1 and 2 classes, my Writer's Workshop class, and done private tutoring.
Learners will need paper and something to write with or a whiteboard and a dry erase marker to practice writing their letters during class.
