Has your child ever been interested in creating their own music? Have they heard of GarageBand but felt overwhelmed or didn’t know how to use the application? When I was a kid, I was really interested in music production but I didn’t have the right program or a teacher to help me. Anytime I tried to make an at-home recording, my songs never came out the way I wanted them to and I felt discouraged about my music. Well thankfully since then, Apple made GarageBand! What your student will take away from this class: ✔ How to navigate and understand the basic controls of the GarageBand app ✔ How to create and edit layered tracks in a recording ✔ How to layer rhythmic and melodic loops to create their first basic song ✔ How to perform and record their own drum beat, bass guitar, guitar and piano accompaniment ✔ How to edit their recordings ✔ How to export files as an mp3 and share ✔ …and more!
In order to succeed in this course, students are REQUIRED to have an iPad or iPhone with GarageBand downloaded. Please download the app ahead of time to ensure that your student is prepared for class (Requires iOS 13.0 or later!!!). Please let me know if you have problems at least 24 hours before class starts- refunds will NOT be given to students who realize they cannot access the app on Day 1 of class. Students should also have TWO devices- one for our Zoom call and one for GarageBand. Students are not required to have any background knowledge of the application- your teacher will walk you through every step of creating your own songs!
