課堂經歷
Photography is available to everyone these days. Almost everyone has a camera with them at all times thanks to cell phones. Taking nice photos is an art, yes, but we can all learn to take extraordinary photos with a bit of practice and some knowledge of techniques. In this 5-week course, we will step out with our cameras and explore the world around us. Let's find the small moments that are often passed by in our everyday lives. You are welcome to use a digital camera as well as a cell phone with a camera. I ask that you steer clear of tablet cameras unless you know that the camera is a better quality one. **Week by week breakdown** Week 1: Photography scavenger hunt, your chosen weekly photographer, and Blooket game. Week 2: Linear perspective including one, two, and three point perspective, your chosen weekly photographer, and Blooket game. Week 3: Atmospheric/Aerial Perspective and Forced Perspective, your chosen weekly photographer, and Blooket game. Week 4: Microphotography, your chosen weekly photographer, and Blooket game. Week 5: Tonal value scale/ color scale, your chosen weekly photographer, and Blooket game. Every Tuesday: -I will present in slide form a new photographer and discuss the skills and techniques they use. I will also talk about the definitions and techniques that are used for that week's field assignment. -You will then be asked to complete the assigned Blooket game during the week. What is Blooket and how do you play? Blooket is a quiz game composed of a number of questions pertaining to specific topics, like photography. You will answer questions and compete with other students in the class. The questions will be specifically about the photography techniques and photographer we learned about in our slides that week. It is a fun way to really help you completely comprehend and keep to memory each of these techniques. -You will then go out and capture your own photos for the weekly assignment. You will also research a photographer that works with that particular week's technique, and write up a summary of them with a photo of their work attached. Every Monday: -Your series of at least 3 photos will be due and posted on the classroom wall along with your own summary report of your chosen photographer for the week. -You will have completed the Blooket game for the past week. -We will then as a group discuss your photographs: did you find it difficult to find a subject to capture, how can we better capture or frame the photo...? -We will also discuss your chosen photographer together as a group (you don't have to necessarily like their work) with these specific questions: how did they use a particular technique, what sort of subjects do they often capture, what inspires you about them, what doesn't inspire you, why did you choose them, what do you like/dislike? **You will be discussing with fellow classmates each other's work and chosen photographer- this is a safe place for constructive criticism and encouraging comments. By the end of the 5-weeks, you will walk away with a portfolio of your own photographs as well as a more profound knowledge of the world of photography.
