初級希伯來學校樂趣：學習讀寫希伯來字母 (5 - 10)

Students will slowly learn the letters and vowels of the Hebrew alphabet.  We will practice reading aloud and forming small words and sounds using the letters and vowels.  

We will practice by singing the Alef Bet Vet Song.

Classes will be fun and interactive with a variety of games including BINGO.

What to expect:
During each session, we will learn a few letters and vowels.  The pace depends on the background and ability of the students.

This is a beginner class for students with very little previous knowledge of Hebrew and the Hebrew alphabet.

We will be following along in a learning Hebrew book that students will be required to purchase.

The bingo sheets and other resources will be either made by me or downloaded and shared with permission.

We will also be using the annotation feature in Zoom for interactive lessons.  Please be sure your child knows how to do that.
We will be working and learning from the book, The Hebrew Primer book by Ruby G. Strauss.

This classic Hebrew primer has taught hundreds of thousands of children to read Hebrew. Derech Binah: The Hebrew Primer introduces look-alike letters together in large, clear type.  

This is the book that I used when I taught Hebrew classes in person.

Week 1:  Lesson 1 and 2 - Bet, Vet, and Ay vowel
Week 2:  Lesson 2 Dalet, Resh, and Ah vowels
Week 3: Sin, Shin
Week 4: Tav
Week 5: Lamed, Mem
Week 6: Final Mem, O and Oo vowels
Week 7:  Final Nun, Vav, Yud
Week 8: Ayin, Alef, Silent vowel
Week 9: Gimel, Nun
Week 10: Chet, Hay, Eh vowel
Week 11: Kaf, Chaf
Week 12: Ee vowels
Week 13: Pay, Fay, Ooh vowel
Week 14: Koof, Tet
Week 15: Tsadee, Zayin
Week 16: Final Fay, Samech

This is the tentative outline of the course, though we may cover more or less letters and vowels depending on how quickly the students learn and retain the information.

I believe that learning can be fun when it’s relevant, interesting, and interactive.  I enjoy sharing my love for Hebrew by showing the kids that Hebrew is useful and exciting.  

I like to have fun and be a little bit silly. I'm a kid at heart, yet still professional with a passion for learning and teaching.
