This class will introduce teens to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and provide hands-on experience in creating and developing a business idea to get their business started.

Class Outline:

Greetings (5 minutes)

Introduction to Entrepreneurship (10 mins): This will include a brief overview of entrepreneurship and its importance, the traits and skills of successful entrepreneurs. 

Identifying Passion and Purpose (25 mins): Including an interactive activity to help students identify their passions and interests, a group discussion on how passions can be turned into business ideas, and a brainstorming session to generate initial business ideas based on personal interests. 

Market Research and Target Audience (25 mins): An explanation of the importance of market research in validating business ideas, an introduction to basic market research techniques, including surveys and competitor analysis, and a hands-on activity where students conduct market research to identify their target audience and understand their needs and preferences. 

Developing a Business Plan (25 mins): An overview of the components of a business plan (e.g., executive summary, product/service description, marketing strategy, financial projections), a guided template for students to start developing their own business plans, and support from the instructor to assist students in refining their business ideas and plans. 

Pitching and Presentation Skills (20 mins): Learning effective communication and presentation skills in entrepreneurship, tips and techniques for crafting a compelling business pitch, a practice session where students pitch their business ideas to the class and receive constructive feedback. 

Reflection and Next Steps (10 mins): Group reflection on key learnings from the class, including setting actionable goals for further exploration and development of business ideas and resources and recommended readings for continued learning outside of class.

This class will provide a comprehensive introduction to the world of entrepreneurship, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue their business ideas. Through interactive activities, discussions, and hands-on experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and leave the class inspired to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.
