課堂經歷
This class will be a fun and challenging introductory course in investigations. Topics covered will include: 1. how to identify specific criminal activity, 2. gathering information and evidence, 3. suspect identification, 4. conducting interviews and interrogations, and 5. investigating crime scenes. I will teach these topics using techniques that connect with auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners. The material will be fun and engaging. Your child will get to interact with myself and other classmates as we work through detailed discussions and other activities. There are no prerequisites for this course, as it is a one-time introductory lesson. I will offer courses that go into more depth about these topics and more, should you and your child show interest in learning more about investigations. Please note: there will be no gruesome or inappropriate material of any kind. There will be no sensitive information shared or taught. ****This is somewhat of a fast paced class. This class is designed to be challenging. Challenging tasks provide a deeper level of learning than just simple, mundane coursework. My goal is to challenge your kids to engage their critical thinking skills in a way that is fun and mentally stimulating. This class is not overly difficult, but it is detail oriented, teaching the kids in fairly great detail how to conduct an investigation from start to finish. I do not rush though the material, but there is quite a bit of material to cover. So I don't move at a snail's pace either. We move at a moderately brisk pace while we are building a foundation of investigative principles, prior to solving our first mystery. The first 30 minutes to an hour will be spent laying a solid foundation on how to properly conduct an investigation. The time spent on this part of the lesson largely depends on class size, learning abilities, and so on. My goal is to solve one to two complete mysteries once the foundation has been laid. I try to make the material as fun and engaging as possible, especially while we are learning the foundational aspects of investigations. With this class, participation is key to being able to learn the material presented. We will also have in depth discussions related to the material. ****What this class is NOT. It is not a class where the entire time is devoted to solving a particular mystery or crime. This is a foundation class where you learn some investigative concepts. I have another class that follows this one, titled: Nothing but Mysteries. In that class, we apply what we have learned during this class and solve as many mysteries as possible. Becoming a Top-Notch Sleuth is a class that is well suited for kids that have a genuine interest in investigations and learning how to conduct a proper investigation. It may not be well suited to kids who just want to play mystery games the entire time. This is not that kind of class. I am considering creating those types of classes, but this is NOT that type of class. Anyone is more than welcome to enroll, but please keep all of this in mind when you are enrolling your child. Thank you for considering this class! If you have any questions, please send me a message. I will do my best to swiftly reply to any message that you send. I hope to meet your child very soon.

供應清單
A notepad or paper and writing utensil. Multiple printable items will be available upon your enrollment. Feel free to print out the report and note taking supplements, as well as the badge and ID card. The badge, ID card, and the Miranda Warning card can also be laminated for protection against damage from prolonged use. For the note taking supplements and other paperwork, if you print these out, we will go over them during class. 1 copy of the police report, 1 copy of the Miranda Warning, and 1 copy each of the field interview card and "notebook" page should be plenty. You can also print out a copy of the suspect and witness statements as well. I will attach both "official" paperwork and simplified paperwork. I will also attach an instructional video to the classroom that deals with completing the "official" paperwork, as well as the badge and ID card. The printouts are not mandatory, but it can enhance their learning experience.
