初學者基礎攝影：8-11 歲

Each week, we will start with a class meeting via Zoom, where students will learn the topic of the week.  Classes meet once a week and students will be given an assignment during each class session to complete before the next session.   If students are comfortable, they may share their photography with each other during this time.  If students do not wish to share their photos with the class, they are not required to.  However, this is a good opportunity for feedback and growth.  We will focus on positive reinforcement.  Then we will discuss the next assignment. 

Week 1: How to use your camera.  Get to know each of the buttons/features of your camera.  We will go over the power button, how the lens works, flash, autofocus, view finder.  We will also learn a few tips and tricks.
      Assignment:  Take pictures to get to know your camera.  Choose your best photo to present to the class, and be ready to share why you chose that particular picture.

Week 2:  Subject.  What is the subject of your picture?  How do you showcase your subject in the best way?  Some topics discussed will be the framing technique, rule of thirds, and filling the frame.
      Assignment:  Choose a subject and showcase your subject using one of the techniques we discussed.

Week 3: Focus. Choose a subject and work on using your focus to bring attention to it.  We will revisit autofocus, and discuss how to move your focus away from the center of the frame.  We will talk about the difference between auto and manual focus. 

Week 4: Zoom.  How to take photos from far away.  Learning how to best judge your distance when taking photos.  
     Assignment:  Use your zoom to take pictures of something from far away. Don't forget to use all of the other information we've learned to create an amazing shot!

Week 5: Putting it All Together.  How do I set up a shot that is interesting and pleasing to the eye?  We will review the elements discussed.
      Assignment:  Create an interesting photo by selecting and showcasing your subject and composing the image using one of the techniques we discussed.

Week 6:  There will be no lesson.  We will come together to discuss our Week 5 photos and evaluate how well we were able to incorporate all the elements of the course.  We will look for subject, composition, accurate focus, etc.

Please Note:  This is a hands on class that works best with students submitting photographs for discussion.  Classes may be cancelled due to lack of participation or repeated no-shows/cancellations.  

Class may be cancelled prior to the start date due to low enrollment.
