In this hands on science summer camp, kids will explore exothermic reactions. We will learn what makes something exothermic versus endothermic. Kids will learn to keep a lab report and the basics of the scientific method. We will discuss lab safety to ensure that each learner knows how to stay safe while learning new things. Each class will begin with an overview of the topics to being covered. Then, its time to dive into some fun experiments. Students are encouraged to get hands on and ask...
Students will learnt he basics of lab safety and the scientific method. They will learn to fill out a lab report and generate a hypothesis. Students will learn the difference between an exothermic and an endothermic reaction.
Lab sheets will be uploaded to the classroom. Other supplies needed for experiments include: Steel wool thermometer glass jar gloves vinegar 16-20 oz plastic bottle 6% or lower hydrogen peroxide solution (this will produce the biggest reaction but can be spendy so pharmacy grade solution [found at Walgreens, Walmart, etc] will work as well but with a smaller reaction Yeast warm water liquid dish soap baking soda large sauce pan mixing spoon smooth surface Optional: food coloring funnel *Hot ice requires cooking on a stove top and younger learners may require supervision for this experiment*
