There is no assigned homework. However, I do give creative prompts that students can work on during class or after. These are not mandatory however, they are encouraged. Learners can send photographs of their work to put in the weekly slide show or can share the following week in class.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
This ongoing class begins with a welcome and introductions! At the beginning of each class, learners are encouraged to share something they know about space or want to learn more about during class. Class is based around a colorful slide presentation that might have photographs, illustrations, true and false questions, and short video clips that everyone can see. Each class focuses on a differnet space related topic, an astronaut spotlight and a creative drawing/sculpting or building prompt that can be worked on during class or after. Before class starts each week, learners can share their creative drawings/sculptures or builds from the week prior. I am a friendly and fun teacher and I encourage discussion and interaction during class. Class will progress as follows: Week of April 1: So you want to be an astronaut? How do people become astronauts? How do astronauts train and prepare to go to space? Learners will be encouraged to decorate their own NASA Astronaut Badge during or after class. If learners send a photograph, I will post creations on the first slide of the following weeks slide presentation and encourage learners to share their creative work. Week of April 8: Students get ready to go to space. What do astronauts need to bring with them when they go to space? Students learn all about things needed to survive in space including food, water, clothing, exercise, a spacesuit and spaceship. Learners should be prepared to draw, build or sculpt a picture of their own spacesuit and spaceship AFTER class! Week of April 15: Lift off! Learners head to space. During class, learners see how a spaceship gets into space and then virtually visit Venus. Our post class drawing challenge is to dream up and draw/build or sculpt their own Venus Airship. Week of April 22: Students continue the journey through space by visiting Mercury and the Sun. This week's post class draw/build or sculpt challenge is to design their own planet. Week of April 29: Let's head to Mars. In this class, students learn about the red planet through photographs and videos sent from the Mars Rover. Check out the spacesuits our own astronauts will wear when they go on a mission to Mars. Design your own Mars colony map this week. Don't forget to build a school!
學習目標
Students will learn:
-basic solar system knowledge
-about astronauts and how they train for space
-about life aboard the International Space Station
-specialized equipment astronauts use, such as spacesuits and helmets
-about specific astronauts and the roles they play or played in space exploration

供應清單
Learners can participate in this class without any specific supplies. I do send PDFs occasionally to be used in creative exercises that can be printed out. If you don't have a printer, you can make your own designs easily so don't be discouraged. For the weekly creative prompt learners might want to draw, sculpt something out of clay or build a creations from small blocks. Please just use whatever you have at home. Be creative!

Hello!
My name is Stephanie and I am so happy to be an educator here on Outschool. I have experience teaching learners of all ages - preschool all the way up through graduate school. My educational background includes bachelor degrees in Art Conservation and Anthropology and a minor in Fine Art. I also have a Master’s Degree in Urban Affairs and Public Policy with a concentration in Historic Preservation. I genuinely love all things material culture, art, history and architecture.
I am also a mom of three children. I love trips to the library, museums, historic sites and parks. I enjoy travel, cold lemonade, reading books, taking walks and shopping locally. My house is filled with lots of love and chaos.
I believe that education should be a dynamic and personalized experience. I view classrooms as places where curiosity is celebrated and where learning is an active, collaborative endeavor. I strive to foster a learning environment where students are encouraged to pursue their passions, ask questions, and think critically. I believe that hands-on learning not only enhances retention but also ignites a genuine enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge. Through open discussions and exploration of topics that resonate with students' interests, I aim to empower them to become lifelong learners who are not just consumers of knowledge but creators of it. Ultimately, I aspire to inspire a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom and into every facet of students' lives.
Come have fun and learn with me!
