ASL 1 級 - 高中課程

ASL Level 1 is an exciting and interactive class for beginner students who want to learn American Sign Language at a high school level! 

Our course schedule includes:

Week 1: Introductions, Alphabet and Numbers
Week 2: Colors, Animals, and the Proper Order of Description
Week 3: Food, Money, and Conversational Shopping
Week 4: Time and Question Words, ASL Grammar, Translating
Week 5: Family, Pronouns, and Topics
Week 6:  Emotions and Proper Facial Expressions
Week 7: Clothes, Patterns, and the Order of Description
Week 8: Body Parts, Health, and Emergency
Week 9: Locations and Prepositions
Week 10: Midterm
Week 11: Weather, Translating
Week 12: Days, Months, Years, Seasons
Week 13: Holidays
Week 14: Furniture, Rooms, Prepositions
Week 15: Farm Life
Week 16: Ocean and Vacation Topics
Week 17: States and Provinces
Week 18: Classifiers 
Week 19: Conversation Starters and Requests
Week 20: Final Exam

During this course, the students will learn several hundred new vocabulary signs, increase their fluency with conversational skills, advance their ASL grammar, emerge themselves in Deaf culture and signing, and expand their fluency. We will learn through activities, games, demonstration, and lots of practice! 

I will provide quizzes, class assignments, a midterm, final exam, class certificates, and a final grade. The grade will be based off of an accumulation of quiz, test, and assignments results, as well as class participation. We will be covering vocabulary, grammar, conversational skills, and Deaf culture during each lesson. This course will be tons of fun!! The students will also be asked to complete three ASL class assignments throughout the school year. These include ASL Hand Art , 5 Parameters, and Martha's Vineyard, details of these projects will be presented in the class syllabus and the students will be given specific instructions in class. These assignments are really fun and will expand your students ASL skills.

No previous knowledge of ASL is needed! I am looking forward to learning, laughing, and signing with your students soon!!

Class policy: Each student must have a camera on during this so that I can help them with the correct hand-forms and locations, this is an essential part of learning in this course. Student's will also be engaging and practicing their ASL signs with conversations and their hands must be seen for this. If the student does not want their face seen, they may angle the camera to only show their hands.
