Course Objective: ASL 3 works to expand and build on ASL2 with Mrs. G. You will review vocabulary, grammar, and culturally appropriate uses of ASL through natural, everyday conversational situations. ASL 3 will allow students to work on quick retrieval of vocabulary for a variety of discussions. All student video posts are optional. This course will encourage "your turn" activities. No live classes. Since ASL is a visual/gestural language, you will need to develop communication skills of which you are not accustomed: using one's hands, face, body, eyes and space. In order to progress, it is important that students become comfortable "listening" with their eyes. 1. Weekly Video Discussion Posts: Student will be assigned engaging weekly activities to show what they have learned. If a student does post an optional video response, teacher will interact with positive feedback on posted learner videos supporting student growth in class. 2. Fingerspelling, Numbers and Core Vocabulary Review: Constant review of the vocabulary and regular practice of fingerspelling and numbers is critical to your progress in this course. You will be asked to review vocabulary regularly and perform "your turn" dialogues for practice and student interactive video post. 3. Receptive: To help you develop your receptive skills, you will be invited to Mrs. G’s exclusive Quizlets. Students are asked to send a message to the teacher for the Quizlet link. Quizlet is optional. 4. Expressive : You will be asked to follow along with the posted video using "your turn". "Your turn" and the weekly video posts expressive activities are designed to help you learn what fluent ASL "feels" like. Learning Objectives: Students taking ASL 3 with Mrs. G will prepare for student advancement to ASL 4 with Mrs. G! *New Signs to Extend Vocabulary *More Classifiers *Directionals *Extended Conversations with review of ASL Vocabulary *More Details/Describing : People, Places and Things *How to build a cohesive ASL conversation quickly *Non-Manual Markers Practice! Practice! Practice! *ASL *PSE *SEE "Navigating the Pendulum" *The Key to Successful Communication

Optional: Learners can complete weekly discussion board video assignments. For example: Introduce yourself in ASL! Post a video of yourself signing: "Hello! My name is (fingerspell your first name). What's your name? Nice to meet you". Video to be posted on the Outschool attachment feature in the assignment comment tab or sent to teacher for review.
