In this class, we explore three unique drawing techniques: contour drawing, scribble shading, and cubism. Contour Drawing: This technique emphasizes light, shadow, and shape using a single, continuous line without shading or lifting the pen. The results are often slightly abstract, creating intriguing and dynamic drawings. Scribble Shading: This method uses scribbles to create value, which in turn defines shape and form. It's a playful and effective way to add depth and texture to your artwork. Cubism: Inspired by the cubist movement, this style breaks objects down into their basic shapes and views them from multiple angles simultaneously, resulting in intentionally abstract representations. These techniques depart from traditional, realistic drawing styles and will help learners develop their own unique artistic expression. While each style can be executed relatively quickly, practicing them repeatedly will enhance your skills and comfort level. Remember, practice makes progress! The more you draw, the better you’ll become and the more confident you’ll feel with each technique.

超過 1 週課 1:
Contour drawing
In this lesson, we will create a contour drawing. Contour drawing involves using a single, continuous line to capture the form, shape, and details of the subject. I typically keep the details minimal to ensure that the shape and form stand out more prominently.
課 2:
Scribble drawing
In this lesson, we will explore a unique and quick drawing technique called scribble drawing or scribble shading. We'll study our subject matter and use more scribbles to represent darker values and fewer scribbles for lighter areas. The type of scribble you choose can also help convey your texture and help to separate elements.
課 3:
Cubism self portrait
In this lesson, we will dive into a more abstract drawing style called cubism. Cubism, which has been influential for over 100 years, has helped pave the way for modern art. This style examines life from multiple angles and perspectives, combining them into a single composition.

I love to teach art, and specialize in drawing (wide variety of styles and techniques), procreate, watercolour, and acrylic painting. When I teach, I like to lead by example. This means that I draw, paint and create with my students. Throughout class I make myself available for questions, assistance and feedback.
I’ve been teaching art for over 5 years, and I have been creating art professionally since 2011. I have illustrated marketing materials for Denny’s, Newman’s Own, Duane Reade, Discovery Children’s Museum, The Mendes Foundation and other clients.
I also have extensive experience in advertising. I’ve been working as an art director (now creative director) for over 17 years. I worked in New York City for 10 years, Cambodia for one, and I currently work remotely out of my home office in Canada. In my advertising career I've made TV commercials, print campaigns, radio spots, online ads, videos and billboards (even some in Time Square.) I love thinking of cool ideas and bringing them to life. I am excited to share this skill with my students.
I believe that art is more than an applicable workplace skill. Art is a form of healthy self-expression and personal reflection. I also believe that art teaches the importance of patience and persistence. It is an education for the mind and soul.
For me, art is meditative. I own dozens of sketchbooks filled with drawings I’ve done throughout the years. Many pages contains a memory, emotion, thought or experience. As a mother, I find additional inspiration through my daughter and new son.
Art is everywhere, if you look for it. Children especially have a gift for finding beauty in the world. I hope to harness this gift so every child in my class can find their own unique, artistic voice.
