Does your child say they are "bad" at creating art, but really love it? In this session I will show your child how to build their confidence of creating art through using just a circle. I will begin by reading the story "The Dot." We will follow this with a short discussion and then move into creating. This will start as a guided drawing technigue and then will move on to creating more individual pieces of artwork. At the end we will all share our art with each other. If there is time left over, we will watch a fun animation of The Dot.
學習目標
Students will learn to find confidence while engaging in art. They will see that "happy mistakes" can turn into the best pictures! Students will also learn social skills as they engage in conversations of the book as well as learning how to share their artwork with their peers.

Paper (watercolor paper would be best but not necessary) - at least 4 pieces Pencil (regular and/or colored) Watercolors Crayons or oil pastels White non-coated paper plate to paint on if desired Qtips - about 5-10

I have a master’s degree though the department of education and have been teaching and working with students for the past 20+ years. I am a licensed K-12 special education teacher and was also the academic achievement specialist at my previous in-person school to make sure that all regular education K-8 students were making adequate progress in their academic studies each year. Prior to that I was a therapist for kids ages 5-17 who struggled with behaviors at home and at school.
Throughout my experiences as an art therapist and then as a special education teacher, I have seen that children learn best when engaged in hands-on acitivities. They tend to retain information much more effectively when enaged in active learning. Besides learning the class standards, one of the other focuses for students in this class will be on actively participating.評論
