The learning environment is very dynamic, and students will leave each section feeling confident in what to expect. The format is discussion based and very collaborative by using online whiteboards, as well as screen sharing AP writing rubrics and examples. Lessons included studying strategies, year overview of content, and SAQ, LEQ and DBQ writing. Content that will be showcased is comprised in Units 1-9 Unit 1: Period 1: 1491–1607 Students will learn about Native American societies as well as how and why Europeans first explored, and then began to colonize, the Americas. Unit 2: Period 2: 1607–1754 Students will study the colonies established in the New World by the Spanish, French, Dutch, and British. Unit 3: Period 3: 1754–1800 Students will explore the events that led to the American Revolution and the formation of the United States and examine the early years of the republic. Unit 4: Period 4: 1800–1848 Students will examine how the young nation developed politically, culturally, and economically in this period. Unit 5: Period 5: 1844–1877 Students will learn how the nation expanded and you’ll explore the events that led to the secession of Southern states and the Civil War. Unit 6: Period 6: 1865–1898 Students will examine the nation’s economic and demographic shifts in this period and their links to cultural and political changes. Unit 7: Period 7: 1890–1945 Students will examine America’s changing society and culture and the causes and effects of the global wars and economic meltdown of this period. Unit 8: Period 8: 1945–1980 Students will learn about the rivalry between the Soviet Union and the United States, the growth of various civil rights movements, and the economic, cultural, and political transformations of this period. Unit 9: Period 9: 1980–Present Students will learn about the advance of political conservatism, developments in science and technology, and demographic shifts that had major cultural and political consequences in this period.

AP Studying Strategies & Multiple Choice Questions
Students will see a scope of what content and time periods the AP test will cover. Students will learn strategies and view resources that can help them throughout the year. Students will be preview multiple choice question expectations. Students will be shown sources and walk through strategies for source analysis. Students will be shown paragraph sources. Students will review test taking strategies for multiple choice questions.

AP Source Analysis
Students will review multiple choice question expectations. Students will compare sources between paragraph written sources and images. Students will view various types of sources, ranging from images, political cartoons and graphs. Students will discuss strategies for analyzing sources. Students will practice ways to answer AP questions regarding sources, as well as how they will later be seen in DBQ's.

Short Answer Writing Overview
Students will preview SAQ's and will be taught the ACE response strategy and practice the strategy. Students will be taught ways to approach short answer questions as well as source comparison prompts.

Long Essay Overview
Students will preview expectations for long essay questions by reviewing the rubric used by AP graders. Students will learn what is needed in the essay and practice the strategy of scoring as many points as possible.
