課堂經歷
Do you have a learner that loves Animal Crossing? Does your learner love to find new ways to terraform/to hybrid flowers/ to get new villagers to move in/to change the way their house looks? Then this is the class for them! During our class, learners will share tips and tricks that they have learned while playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We will begin class by introducing ourselves and telling a bit about our islands such as the name of the island and why as well as who is living there. I will go first to help with the discussion. Then allow each learner to ask questions after each learner shares about their island. Each learner will be able to share and show us their island as time allows during sharing time. When you first look at Animal Crossing, it looks like a normal idea game however there are many layers to it. First being the social aspect of it, players develop social skills by interacting with residents and being polite and considerate to them. Second, it helps players to develop time management skills by the game being played in real-time. This makes them be aware of any type of challenges or skills that are needing to be accomplished since they need to be done in real-time. Third, It can improve your learners reading skills since all villagers “talk” in animal crossing speak but then it’s translated on screen. This makes the player read what is being said. Fourth, playing Animal Crossing also learners increases math skills. When playing, players buy and sell goods, flowers, fossils, recipes, and other items at the local store or to other villagers. This skill makes the learner need to understand the value of “bells”. Fifth, as players are planning and playing in Animal Crossing, a very important skill to have is vision planning such as looking toward the future. All things in Animal Crossing take time so there is no immediate satisfaction. This allows the learner to learn about delayed gratification. Sixth, players are able to send other villagers and friends letters and gifts. This increases their writing skills as well as their ability to learn about gifting. Seventh, and my favorite part about the game, is the ability to learn about expression. There are so many different types of clothing, furniture, wallpaper, flooring, and you are even able to design your own items. This allows for an infinite amount of ideas when designing your island, your village, your house, and your character. Copyright Note: Animal Crossing, and all of its content, belongs to Nintendo. I do not claim to own any content--I am just an enthusiastic fan who wants to share the educational benefits and joy this game creates! Each student has, independently and legally, bought a copy of the game, as well as a device to play it on. I discourage any cheating, hacking, cracking, etc.

As for me and my experience with Animal Crossing:
I love Animal Crossing. I have been playing Animal Crossing for over 20 years and I’ve been playing New Horizons for over 500 hours. I try to play daily and enjoy playing with my children a lot. My son, who is 17, has his own island and I share my island with my 9-year-old daughter.
