My family calls me Mr. Midwoof, as I have whelped over 200 puppies and enjoyed every minute of it. Now, it’s time to pass my knowledge onto others. I have turned my whelping knowledge into an interesting and exciting science class. In this class, I will tell stories about my whelping experiences and answer questions students might have about breeding. We will be discussing in-depth animal science topics in a way students enjoy. A few examples of topics we will cover: Nutritional Needs: Discuss the nutritional requirements for pregnant and nursing dogs to ensure optimal health. Whelping Environment: Create a safe and comfortable environment for the mother to give birth, including the selection of appropriate whelping boxes. Stages of Labor: Learn the stages of labor in dogs, including what to expect and how to assist if necessary. Recognizing Complications: Identify common complications during whelping and know when to seek veterinary assistance. Puppy Care: Understand the immediate care needs of newborn puppies, including warmth, feeding, and monitoring.

My wife and I work together with our children breeding dogs. In the many years we have been doing this, I have whelped over 200 golden retriever and goldendoodle puppies. While preparing to start breeding, I took many health, genetics, and animal science classes. I then applied all of that knowledge in our breeding business. My goal is to now pass that knowledge on to students interested in canine science. In terms of training, I take multiple breeder enrichment courses to further my knowledge and stay up-to-date on practices. 評論
