My expertise is in reading and interpreting ancient texts, and I have taught students for college credit how to apply these skills to the Code of Hammurabi. With an MA in Biblical Studies, I have had to study Hammurabi and related readings as historical background.

Much of Hammurabi's sense of justice differs widely from our own. Understanding another culture's customs is important, but some of Hammurabi will strike us today as violent and outdated.
