US Grade 8 - 11
This course will cover the Next Generation Science Life Science Standards in a hands-on and engaging way! Real-world problems, situations, and problem-based learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course. Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with other students and their instructor throughout this course in order to get the most out of their online experience. Students will meet for a live meeting once a week for instruction, demonstrations, group work, and experiments. The rest of the week will provide students the opportunity to complete projects, labs, research projects, and homework assignents. Due to the fact that this is an ongoing course, students can join in at any time. Each week will cover a different human body system. No prior knowledge is needed. The following topics will be covered during this course: September 4: Skin (Integumentary System) September 11: Skeletal System September 18: Muscular System September 25: Neurons October 2: Divisions of the Nervous System October 9: The Brain October 16: Blood Vessels and Blood October 23: The Heart October 30: Circulation Students who are already taking life science can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll for a complete anatomy and physiology curriculum. Students will meet once a week for a live lesson. After this lesson, students will be given several options to complete for the optional homework.
