I'm excited to invite your child to a 5-week reading adventure that will help them become more insightful and skilled readers. 

In this class, we'll focus on ANALYZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT—a reading skill that can be challenging for 3rd and 4th graders. Understanding how characters grow and change throughout a story doesn't always come naturally to kids this age, and that's perfectly okay! We'll work together to break down this skill into fun, manageable steps that will help your child connect with stories in a whole new way. My goal is to make analyzing characters something your child eagerly looks forward to!

WHAT PARENTS CAN EXPECT:
➡️ Your child will learn how to dive deeper into stories, understanding characters beyond their surface actions.

➡️ I'll break down character analysis into engaging, bite-sized steps that won't feel overwhelming.

➡️ Expect lots of interactive activities, discussions, and games that make learning feel like an exciting adventure.

➡️ I'll help your child understand character motivations, track character growth, and make meaningful connections between characters and real life.

WHAT WE WILL COVER:
Each week, we'll focus on different aspects of character development, combining direct instruction with hands-on activities that keep kids engaged and excited about learning.

Week 1: Introduction to Character Analysis
We'll start by exploring what makes a character unique. I'll show kids how to identify key character traits and how these traits influence the story. We'll use fun character profile activities to get everyone thinking!

Week 2: Understanding Character Motivations
This week, we're becoming character detectives! We'll learn how to spot clues about why characters make certain decisions, discuss character goals, and practice inferring motivations together.

Week 3: Tracking Character Growth
It's transformation time! We'll dig into how characters change throughout a story. We'll play some games that'll have your kids thinking about character arcs and pivotal moments in stories.

Week 4: Character Relationships
Characters don't exist in isolation. We'll explore how characters interact with each other and how these relationships drive the plot forward. We'll create character relationship maps to visualize these connections.

Week 5: Putting It All Together
For our grand finale, we'll apply all our new skills! We'll analyze characters in longer stories and work on creative projects. Your child will get to showcase all they've learned about character development.

MY TEACHING STYLE:
Think of me as your child's literary exploration guide! I keep things engaging and ensure everyone feels comfortable sharing their insights.
